Cult Suspect Arrested With Locally Made Pistol in Joint Security Raid in Ilorin
A coordinated security operation involving the Kwara State Police Command, other security agencies and the Kwara State Polytechnic Security Unit has led to the arrest of a suspected cultist and the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol in Ilorin.
The suspect, identified as Agboola Olamilekan, was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation aimed at dismantling violent criminal networks and curbing cult-related activities across the state.
Police said the arrest forms part of ongoing efforts to stem the spread of illegal firearms and prevent criminal elements from operating freely in Kwara.
Commenting on the operation, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ojo Adekimi, said the command remains resolute in its campaign against cultism and other violent crimes.
“Every successful operation represents another step towards dismantling criminal networks and enhancing public safety across the state through proactive and intelligence-led policing,” the commissioner said.
According to the police, investigations are ongoing to uncover other members of the criminal network linked to the suspect, with efforts already underway to apprehend them.
The command reiterated its commitment to advancing the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, through intelligence-driven operations, strategic collaboration with relevant stakeholders and sustained enforcement actions aimed at ensuring that individuals who threaten the peace and security of Kwara State are brought to justice.
