Kwara South to Launch Community Security Force as Fakayode Urges Massive Turnout

ILORIN— The National President of Omo Ibile Igbomina, Sir Bisi Fakayode, has called on residents and indigenes of Kwara South Senatorial District to turn out in large numbers for the official launch of the Kwara South Community Security Force, an initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots security and supporting the operations of conventional security agencies.

The launch, scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Igbomina House, Ganmo, Ifelodun Local Government Area, is a joint initiative of the Ibolo, Ekiti and Igbomina blocs of Kwara South.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr James Adewunmi,  the press Secretary to the National President Omo Ibile Igbomina on Monday and made available to newsmen in Ilorin.

The event is expected to be attended by Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, Convener of Iru Ekun, whose advocacy for community-based security has attracted attention across the South-West.

Speaking ahead of the event, Fakayode described security as the foundation for sustainable development, stressing that no society could make meaningful progress in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.

He said the establishment of the Community Security Force reflected the determination of the people of Ibolo, Ekiti and Igbomina to adopt lawful and proactive measures to safeguard lives and property while working in collaboration with existing security agencies.

According to him, the initiative is designed to complement, rather than replace, the constitutional responsibilities of the nation’s security agencies through community vigilance, intelligence sharing and stronger collaboration among stakeholders.

Fakayode appealed to traditional rulers, political leaders, religious organisations, youth and women groups, professionals, market associations, artisans, students and other stakeholders across Kwara South to participate in the event.

He noted that ensuring the security of communities is a shared responsibility and urged residents to support efforts aimed at building a safer and more peaceful Kwara South.

Omo Ibile Igbomina said the initiative aligns with its commitment to promoting peace, unity, security and sustainable development across Igbomina land and the entire Kwara South Senatorial District.
