Keyamo urges synergy between employees and employers

The Minister of labour and employment Festus Keyamo has stressed the need for synergize between employees and employers of labour to actualise set goals.
The Minister, who who stated this at a two-day working visit to Michael Imoudu National Institute For Labour Studies (MINILS) Ilorin, Kwara state on Friday said “Upon assumption of office Mr President give me this institute as one of the agencies to supervise.
“I was surprised to hear that in recent memory no minister has visited here I was wondering why that would happen so I decided to break that jinx to come and see things here for myself you understand too that in such matters personal diplomacy is more important than getting reporting in Abuja hence my coming down to see and interact with staff here,
“I want to boost morale, I want to encourage them because working here without seeing their Minister but only the DG that is coming to Abuja and say I have seen the Minister I have bring message back to them I thought I should be here personally to motivate them and to encourage my friend who is the new DG to hear his complaint.
“I know what he wants and to also hear directly from them why there has been some kind of lack of progress here for sometime and what we can do to improve the place all of these we are going to say behind the close door.
” I hope that after my visit things are going to improve a lot here and the role of the institution is to educate both workers and synergize that is the job of this institute,” he said.
He also stressed the need for a new staff complex in the institute, adding that there was no point renovating as it is more expensive to renovate.
“We need a new administrative block, conference center, training hall,” he said
The Director General Michael Imoudu National Institute for labour studies (MINILS) Comrade Issa Aremu, said Minister is the first in recent time to come to the institute While highlighted his achievement in assumption of office which include corporate governance, regular governing council meeting, ambience environment conducive for learning, he solicited government support for attractive entrance road to the institution
He also solicited for solar power added the the institute is set to host and train more workers yearly as that they Plan to have their four years strategic plan.
He commended the president for the increase of workers salaries and his assistance to state governor for bail out fund.
Chairman governing council of Michael Imoudu National Institute for labour studies Comrade Frank Kokori noted that the union is his life as he commended the Director of the institute for the transformation of the institute and solicit for fund for more projects in the institute.
He ureged the Director General Comrade Issa Aremu to continue with his good work and make sure the salaries of the workers are well taken care of as he commended the workers for speaking out their minds to appropriate autorities.
Various Union leaders also commended the Minister for his visit to the institute and also solicited for improve working environment for all.
