Kwara 2027: ‘40 Years in Private Sector Prepared Me for Leadership’, AOT Declares Readiness to Serve
Kwara Governorship aspirant, Dr. Alabi Oluwatoyin (AOT), says his over four decades of experience in the private sector have equipped him with the capacity to govern Kwara State, insisting that leadership must be deliberately prepared and not left to chance.
Dr. Alabi made the statement during a live appearance on Sunrise Daily, a current affairs programme on Channels Television, where he spoke extensively on governance, security, and his political ambition ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
He said effective leadership requires structure, discipline, and practical exposure, noting that his professional background has prepared him for the demands of public service.
“Leadership does not happen by accident; it must be prepared for. My 40 years in the private sector have given me the experience to deliver results,” he said.
The governorship hopeful called for a fundamental shift in governance approach in Kwara State, stressing that continued reliance on existing methods without innovation would not produce meaningful change.
“You cannot continue to do the same thing and expect a different result. Kwara needs a new direction and a new way of thinking,” he added.
On security, Dr. Alabi expressed concern over recurring attacks in parts of the state, calling for stronger political will and coordinated government action to address insecurity.
He urged authorities to take more decisive steps while commending the Armed Forces and other security agencies for their efforts in maintaining peace.
He described Kwara State as richly endowed with human and natural resources but said poor leadership execution has limited its potential.
According to him, urgent reforms are needed to reposition the state for inclusive development and economic growth.
Dr. Alabi further stated that his ambition is driven by a desire to build a more inclusive and functional state, adding that his vision is anchored on fairness and shared prosperity.
“The real hope for Kwara State is about to happen in 2027. We can make the desired change and build a system that works for everyone,” he said.
His appearance on national television has further intensified political discussions in the state, as attention shifts toward emerging contenders and their governance philosophies ahead of the next election cycle.
