Christmas: KIA Hails Gov. AbdulRazaq’s Message, Calls for Reciprocal Inclusion

The Kwara Inclusion Advocates (KIA) have welcomed the Christmas message of Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in which he felicitated Christians across the state and acknowledged their consistent support, understanding, solidarity, and commitment to peaceful coexistence.

Speaking on behalf of the Convener of the group, Barrister Tunji Adeyemi, who is currently outside the country, the Coordinator of KIA, Rev. Felix Ajide, described the Governor’s message as reassuring, but noted that the Christmas season also offers an opportunity for deeper reflection on inclusion and reciprocity in governance.

“We appreciate the Governor’s recognition of the Christian community’s loyalty, support and contributions to the peace, harmony and development of Kwara State.

“However, genuine inclusion goes beyond commendation; it must be demonstrated through fair access to leadership and opportunities,” Ajide said.

He stressed that Christians in Kwara State are neither strangers nor peripheral stakeholders, but an integral part of the state’s social, economic, and political fabric and always willing to support the state government and foster peace.

“As discussions ahead of 2027 gradually begin to surface, it is neither divisive nor unreasonable to advocate for the removal of systemic barriers that have historically limited the emergence of a competent Christian as governor.

“This approach, which is already practised in other plural societies, strengthens unity rather than undermines it,” he added.

Ajide further noted that as the leader of the ruling party in the state, Governor AbdulRazaq is well positioned to promote a more inclusive political culture that truly reflects the diversity of Kwara State.

The statement reaffirmed KIA’s commitment to peaceful advocacy, unity, and the pursuit of an inclusive Kwara where every community enjoys a genuine sense of belonging.

KIA also wished all Kwarans a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year anchored on justice, inclusion, and shared progress.
