The atmosphere within the Igbomina region was filled with joy and cultural pride following the official appointment of His Royal Highness, Oba Shaaba Muftau Bayo, as the new Elesa of Oke-Ode, a distinguished 2nd Class Monarch in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The appointment, which has been widely applauded across traditional and civic circles, has also attracted glowing tribute from community development advocate and respected Igbomina son, Dr. Oluwatoyin Tajudeen Alabi, who described the new Elesa as “a custodian of wisdom, a stabilising force, and a royal identity rooted deeply in the heritage of the Igbomina people.”
In his congratulatory message, Dr. Alabi emphasised that Oba Muftau Bayo’s elevation marks a significant moment in the traditional structure of Oke-Ode and the entire Ifelodun axis, adding that his leadership is expected to propel socio-cultural cohesion, peace, and grassroots development.
“Oba Shaaba Muftau Bayo’s appointment is a blessing not only to Oke-Ode but to Igbomina Land and Kwara State at large,” Dr. Alabi stated.
“His rich understanding of our traditions, coupled with his reputation for fairness and community engagement, positions him perfectly to strengthen the royal institution and uplift his people.”
Dr. Alabi also expressed confidence that the new Eesa will continue the legacy of honour, inclusiveness, and progress that defines the revered stool.
“We are confident that His Royal Highness will bring renewed vision into leadership,” he continued.
“His appointment reflects trust, competence, and the hope of a brighter future for Oke-Ode. The entire Igbomina nation is proud,” Dr Alabi added.
The announcement was formally endorsed by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, Hon. Abdullahi Abubakar Bata, who affirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening the traditional institution and fostering stability across local communities.
Residents of Oke-Ode, cultural custodians, and prominent Igbomina stakeholders have also expressed delight at the development, describing Oba Shaaba Muftau Bayo as a leader whose humility, experience, and royal comportment will bring dignity and progress to the throne.
As celebrations continue across the town, expectations are high for a new era of unity, leadership, and community transformation under the reign of the new Elesa.
