53 Students, Staff of Catholic School in Niger State Kidnapped

Terrorists have launched a midnight assault on St. Mary’s School, a Catholic institution in the Papiri Community of Agwara Local Government Area, Niger State abducting no fewer than 53 students and staff.

Details remain unclear, but according to Daily Trust, multiple sources said that several students were taken during the early morning attack.

Fear and uncertainty now hang over the community as families await official updates.

A source from one of the Catholic churches in Niger State confirmed the incident, explaining that the school was still trying to determine the exact number of victims.

However,  another report said no fewer than 53 students and staff have been kidnapped by gunmen from the School

The abduction comes days after gunmen also stormed Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State in the same manner.

In the November 18, 2026 attack in Kebbi State, 26 students were abducted, while the Vice Principal of the school, Makuku Hassan, was shot dead.

Two of the students have, however, escaped from their abductors.

Like the earlier one, the attackers in Niger State struck in the early hours of the day at 4am.

Just on Monday in Eruku, Kwara State boundary town terrorists attacked the CAC Church killing worshippers and abducted no few than 38 and escaped into the bush, and later asking for N100 million ransom on each.
