First 100 Days of Al-Hikmah University’s New Vice-Chancellor Marked by Innovation and Progress

The first hundred days in office of the new Vice-Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Professor Lateef Folorunsho Oladimeji, have been described as a period of remarkable innovation and administrative breakthroughs across all sectors of the institution.

A statement signed by the University’s Information Officer, Mr. Femi Afolayan, on Wednesday in Ilorin, noted that Professor Oladimeji assumed office on Monday, July 14, 2025.

Since taking over the mantle of leadership, the university has recorded several milestones, including the successful hosting of the National Universities Commission (NUC) delegation on resource verification for its Online Distance Learning Centre.

The Faculty of Nursing Sciences also posted an impressive performance in the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) Midwifery Qualifying Professional Examination held between September 9 and 12, 2025.

“A pass rate of 94.44% placed Al-Hikmah University significantly above the national average,” the statement read.

Similarly, the institution recorded a 100% pass rate in the final professional examination for students of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science.

Preparations are also underway for the take-off of the proposed MBBS programme, with the Resource Verification Team of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) already invited, while furnishing of the Medical School complex is at an advanced stage.

Within the same period, the administration successfully conducted a hitch-free Second Semester Examination, with results currently being processed, alongside those of the 2025 Sandwich Programme. Summer School lectures are ongoing, with examinations scheduled for November.

The statement also highlighted notable student achievements.
Two students of the Department of Mass Communication — Naimah Aishah, who clinched third place in the “Best Public Speaker” competition organized by the All Nigeria Speakers’ Champion, and Suleiman Ahmed Akande, an alumnus who won the Kwara State Vendors’ Award for Best Cinematographer — brought laurels to the university.

The Faculty of Education also achieved an outstanding performance in the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE).
In its first-ever participation, the faculty presented 160 students, out of which 145 passed, representing a 91% success rate. The second batch recorded 177 passes out of 178 candidates, achieving a 99% success rate — a testament to the faculty’s commitment to excellence.

In infrastructural development, the administration held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Faculty of Engineering Workshop on Friday, October 17, 2025, signaling the university’s readiness to introduce Engineering programmes. Construction has also commenced on the new **Nursing Complex
