As the world celebrated World Teachers’ Day, renowned community leader and education advocate, Dr. Oluwatoyin Alabi, has praised teachers for their dedication, describing them as the true builders of nations and architects of human progress.
In a statement marking the global event, Dr. Alabi commended teachers for their tireless efforts in shaping young minds, building character, and inspiring generations, often under difficult conditions.
“Teaching is not just a profession; it is a divine calling. Teachers are the custodians of knowledge and the light that guides every child toward discovery and greatness,”
He lauded the resilience and commitment of Nigerian teachers, many of whom continue to serve selflessly despite economic and infrastructural challenges.
Dr. Alabi emphasized that teachers deserve more than symbolic recognition, calling for stronger policies that prioritize their welfare and professional development.
“Our teachers deserve more than applause—they deserve empowerment. They deserve policies that prioritize their welfare, classrooms that inspire learning, and a system that rewards excellence,” he said.
He urged government at all levels, alongside private stakeholders, to invest more in teacher training, welfare, and educational infrastructure, stressing that no nation can grow beyond the quality of its teachers.
World Teachers’ Day, observed annually on October 5, honors the invaluable contributions of teachers around the globe.
This year’s theme focuses on innovation and collaboration in education—a vision Dr. Alabi said must be matched with deliberate policy action and sustained commitment.
While celebrating their contributions, Dr. Alabi encouraged teachers to remain passionate and steadfast, reminding them that their impact endures across every sphere of human endeavor.
“Teachers shape every profession. Their legacy lives on in every achievement of their students,” he added.
