Fresh Bandit Attacks in Kwara Leave Policeman, Civilian Dead, Others Abducted
The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed multiple casualties following coordinated bandit attacks on Motokun and Agboro communities in Patigi Local Government Area on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
In Motokun, six residents were abducted during the night raid, while six others sustained gunshot wounds.
One of the victims, a woman, later died in hospital, while the remaining injured persons are currently receiving treatment.
The attackers later moved to Agboro, where they stormed a private company facility. In the exchange, a police officer lost his life while trying to repel the attack. Properties at the facility were also vandalized.
Confirming the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, described the fallen officer as a “gallant officer who paid the supreme price in active service.”
He added that tactical teams of the police, working alongside the Nigerian Army and other security stakeholders, have since been deployed to the affected areas.
“We have intensified patrols and surveillance in the axis, and every effort is being made to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted victims.
“The Command remains unwavering in its commitment to the safety of residents,” Ojo assured.
The police also expressed condolences to families of the deceased and victims of the attacks, while urging residents to remain calm, security-conscious, and to promptly report any suspicious movement to the nearest security formation.
