Firemen Contain Blaze at Tanke, Prevent Spread to Eight Shops

 

Swift intervention by the Kwara State Fire Service on Sunday averted a major disaster at Tipper Garage, Tanke area of Ilorin, where a fire outbreak threatened a block of nine shops.

The incident occurred around 1:12 p.m. on Joseph Duntoye Street, Ilorin South Local Government.

According to the fire service, only one shop was destroyed after a sudden power surge sparked the blaze.

The quick arrival of firefighters stopped the fire from spreading to other shops and nearby buildings.

Speaking on the incident, the Director of the Kwara State Fire Service urged residents to prioritize electrical safety.

“We appeal to members of the public to always ensure proper maintenance of their wiring systems and avoid negligence that can trigger fire outbreaks,” he said.

The service emphasized that its timely response saved valuable properties and prevented what could have been a much larger tragedy.
