The Babanla Attack – Sad, Regrettable Incident, Says Dr Oluwatoyin Alabi 

The news of the invasion of Babanla communities on Friday afternoon (8/08/2025) came as a rude shock to the entire people of Kwara State, particularly the good people of Ifelodun Local Government Area.

Dr Oluwatoyin Alabi, Igbaja community leader and a Star Associate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a statement signed by his media team, condemned the broad-daylight, daredevil attack which claimed several lives.

He, however, noted that the swift and coordinated response of security agencies, ably supported by our dedicated local vigilantes, prevented what could have been an even greater tragedy.

We must commend the Kwara State Government, and His Excellency, Governor  AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for the prompt intervention that ensured the timely mobilisation of security operatives to the scene. This decisive action helped save lives and restore calm to the affected communities.

In response to the incident, a security meeting was held at the Palace of Elese of Igbaja where proactive measures were put in place to secure our homeland. Our vigilantes have been placed on red alert, equipped with the necessary tools and support to remain combat-ready and to apprehend any fleeing bandits.

We reassure our people of their safety and encourage everyone to go about their normal activities without fear, as all security measures are firmly in place.
