KwaraPoly Elects New SUG President for 2025/2026 Academic Session

In a closely contested election held recently at the Polytechnic auditorium, Ibrahim Moruf from the Statistics Department has emerged victorious as the Students’ Union Government (SUG) President for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Moruf garnered 1,603 votes, narrowly defeating his nearest rival, Bello Muiz from the Science Laboratory Technology Department, who secured 1,564 votes.
The election, conducted via electronic voting, received accolades for its transparency and fairness, as confirmed by various observers and agents from the competing parties.
The management of the institution, alongside security personnel, were present to ensure the integrity of the voting process, which saw a robust turnout from students eager to make their voices heard.
Announcing the results, the Registrar of the institution, Mr. AbdulHafis Amin called for unity among the contestants, urging all parties to accept the election outcome in good faith and work together for the welfare of the student body.
He also encouraged collaboration with the institution’s Management to drive progress.
In her address, the Director, Directorate of Students Services, Engr. Fawziyyah Uthman emphasized that the election outcome shouldn’t be seen as a win-lose situation, calling on the contestants to work as a team, be dedicated to the system, and bring innovative ideas that will benefit students, while promoting peaceful coexistence.
She highlighted the importance of maintaining peaceful coexistence within the institution.
The newly elected SUG president, Ibrahim Moruf, is expected to lead the student body in fostering a positive and productive academic environment as well as work towards achieving great heights for the institution.
