Book Presentation: Prof Yusuf Ali (SAN) urges Nigerians to join hands with security agencies to solve security challenges

Prof Yusuf Ali (SAN), a legal luminary, has stressed the need for all Nigerians to join hands with the security agencies and the government to resolve the issues of insecurity across the country.

Prof Ali made this call while speaking at the Book Presentation titled: ” Peace & Conflict Resolution: A reader in honour of Prof. Noah Yusuf” on Monday at Silver Gate Hotel, Ilorin

Prof. Ali, who was the chairman of the occasion, opined that everyone in the country has a role to place if the nation must come out of the problem of insecurity and threat to lives and property.

According to him, those penetrating the evil in our country and across various societies are not from the sky but from among members of our society.

“Some of these criminals are our relatives, neighbours, friends and family members, but we have decided not to do anything to expose them and rid our society of bad elements.

“Each and everyone of us should hold ourselves responsible for the evil going on in our society.,” he said.

The legal luminary warned that people in position of authority should see it as test and trial, therefore, they should not forget that power, money and position are transit.

He urged Nigerians to pray more for our leaders and the nation for peace, progress, development and success.

Also speaking the chairman of the occasion, Vice-Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole congratulated Prof Noah Yusuf for his outstanding achievements as the immediate past Vice-Chancellors, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin.

He said Prof Yusuf has proved to be a worthy representative of the University of Ilorin and for the establishment of Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution in Al-Hikmah University.

He pointed out that the book being unveiled in his honour would go a long way to add and enrich the body of knowledge in our various academic communities.

The Founder and Board of Trustee Chairman of Al-Hikmah University, Chief ,(Dr) Abdulraheem Oladimeji thanked Prof Noah Yusuf for his tremendous contributions as the fifth Vice-Chancellor of the University.

He said it is not easy to establish University in Nigeria, saying that for those who are interested he would advise them to go and start with primary or secondary education, because it is capital intensive.

Also speaking the new Vice-Chancellor of the Al-Hikmah University, Prof. Lateef Folorunsho Oladimeji said Prof Yusuf was a hardworking, diligent, trustworthy, sincere and opened leader, saying he learnt a lot from him as his deputy Vice-Chancellor.

The book reviewer, Dr T. S. Arinde, an Associate Professor, Faculty of Arts, University of Ilorin, recommended the book with contributions from over 15 authors to the public and academics for study.

He said the authors wrote on comprehensive and dynamic issue of peace, conflict resolutions and alternative conflict resolution making it a book relevant for academic, military, religious, political and social studies.

In his response as the honoree, Prof Noah Yusuf, the immediate past Vice-Chancellors, Al-Hikmah University thanked the organisers and authors of the book for honouring him.

He also thanked the founder and BOT chairman of Al-Hikmah University, Chief (Dr) Abdulraheem Oladimeji for the privilege given him to make contribution to the University and for his support and understanding.

He urged all the staff and students of the institution to support the new Vice-Chancellor in order to continue to make the university great and achieve the dream of the founding father.

Laudable achievements of Prof Yusuf were read at the occasion, which had doubled the population of the students and staff and had all its 55 courses accredited by the National Universities Commission.
