JAMB Reveals Top Scorers in 2025 UTME, Raises Cut-off Mark to 150
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the top scorers in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and has announced cut-off mark at 150 for admission into Universities in 2025 academic session.
Speaking at the 2025 Policy Meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed that Okeke Chinedu Christian from Anambra State emerged as the highest scorer with 375 out of 400. He selected the University of Lagos as his first-choice institution to study Mechanical Engineering.
Coming closely behind is Ayuba Simon-Peter John from Gombe State, who scored 374 and picked Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) to also study Mechanical Engineering.
In third place is Jimoh Abdulmalik Olayinka from Kwara State, who scored 373 with the University of Lagos as his first-choice institution and Mechanical Engineering as his preferred course.
Meanwhile, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2025 academic session.
This decision was announced by the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during the 2025 Policy Meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday.
The new benchmark represents an increase from last year’s cut-off mark of 140.
For other institutions, the approved cut-off marks are as follows: Polytechnics – 100, Colleges of Education – 100, Schools of Nursing – 140, and Colleges of Agriculture – 100.
The Registrar stressed that institutions are not permitted to admit candidates below these minimum thresholds.
