Coach Sanni Vows to Deliver First-Ever President Federation Cup Title for Kwara
As Kwara United prepares to battle Abakaliki FC in the final of the President Federation Cup today, Saturday in Lagos, Head Coach Tunde Sanni says he is calm, focused, and confident of making history for the state.
Speaking at a media briefing organised by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Sanni, a former Kwara United captain turned head coach, said there’s no pressure heading into the final—only determination.
“I am not under any pressure. My team is battle-ready—mentally and physically. The boys are in great shape and know what is at stake,” he said.
Sanni, who never lifted the trophy during his playing years, sees this final as a chance to fulfil a long-standing dream—not just for himself, but for Kwara State.
“We never won this trophy during my playing days, but now as the coach, I want to do it for Kwara. This is our time,” he declared.
On their opponents, Abakaliki FC, Sanni maintained a respectful but confident tone.
“We are not underrating Abakaliki FC. They are a good side, and that’s why they’re in the final. But we are not afraid of them. We will go in with absolute concentration and commitment.”
Team captain Kabir Mohammed also spoke at the event, assuring fans that Kwara United is ready to give their all on the pitch.
“There are no injury worries in camp. Everyone is focused, and we are going into the match with 100% attention and determination to bring the trophy home,” he said.
The final will be played at 4:00 PM on Saturday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, where Kwara United will be looking to claim the prestigious President Federation Cup for the first time in the club’s history.
