Ilorin Emirate Offers Prayers for Peace, Supports Tinubu, AbdulRazaq’s Leadership
The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has led a gathering of prominent Islamic scholars in a special prayer session for Nigeria’s peace and the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State.
Held at the Emir’s inner palace on Saturday, the spiritual event brought together top clerics including the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Soliu, Imam Imale, Sheikh AbdulHamid Abdullahi, the Grand Mufti of Ilorin, Sheikh Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa, and other respected scholars.
The Emir, who also chairs the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, said the gathering was necessary to seek divine intervention for Nigeria’s challenges and to bless the efforts of both leaders.
“This prayer is our way of asking Allah to restore peace in troubled regions and guide our leaders to deliver good governance,” he said.
Governor AbdulRazaq was represented by a delegation led by his special adviser and counselor, Alhaji Saadu Salahu. Others in the entourage included state legislators, commissioners, political aides, and APC stalwarts.
Speaking to journalists after the session, Salahu noted that the prayer was a symbol of unity and spiritual support from the Ilorin Emirate.
“Ilorin is a spiritual hub where Qur’anic teachings guide our lives. The Emir, known for his piety, organized this prayer to back his son, Governor AbdulRazaq, and President Tinubu as they continue their work for national development,” he stated.
He added, “The Governor has consistently respected traditional institutions and has made the Emir proud with his performance over the past six years. This prayer is not the first and certainly won’t be the last.”
Salahu also highlighted the relative peace enjoyed in Kwara State, attributing it to effective governance.
“Kwara remains one of the most secure states in Nigeria. That’s not just our opinion—security agencies and policy institutions like NIPSS have confirmed it.”
He concluded by expressing gratitude on behalf of the Governor to the Emir, the council of Ulama, and the people of Kwara for their continued support.
The session underscored the synergy between traditional institutions and political leadership in Kwara, reflecting a collective desire for national stability and progress.
