Former presidential aspirant task christian youths on integrity

 

 

Dr Gbenga Olawepo- Hashim, a former 2023 Presidential Aspirant on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC), has called on Christian youths in the country to embrace good integrity inorder to attain leadership position.

Hashim, who was one of the guest speaker gave the advice on Saturday at the One-Day training on Political Education Among Christian Youths held in Ilorin.

The training was organized by Youth Wing Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Kwara chapter, with the theme : Arise and Lead: Answering the Call to Serve.

According to him, good integrity will inspire consistent followership and gain public trust.

” To become a good leader, your integrity matters most. Protect your integrity and be righteous.

” Don’t compromise and always maintain good name that will last for eternity.

” You have to be accountable to the people you lead and also you will be accountable to God,” he said.

He urged youths to emulate the likes of Obafemi Awolowo, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Solomon Lah and others who once lead the country in their own capacity without compromise.

The former presidential aspirant also advised Christian youths to study like Daniel and not be ignorant of leadership roles.

He cited Daniel as en example of christian who served unbelievers but never compromise his standard.

” They always came to Daniel because he has the wisdom. If you have the wisdom, they will come for you and tap from your bundle of knowledge ,” he said.

On his path, Former Speaker,Kwara House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.Yissa Benjamin urged christian youths to protect the image of Jesus Christ and Nigeria as a country.

He charged the young christian generations to rise up and lead, rather than shying away from responsibility.

Benjamin urged christian youths to participate in politics and stop displaying apathy.

According to him, the key responsibilities of youth christians is to be submissive to authority, praying for leaders and caring for the needy.

He said Christians are called to promote peace, justice and to lead by example, not promoting violence.

” As a Christian you are called to be the light, the salt to the nation. You are expected to balance your faith and simplicity in the society.

” Influence where you are positively by being truthful and honest in all your doings,” he said.

The former speaker, however, charged youths to have faith in God and never put their trust in man.

The Kwara Commissioner for Livestock Development, Mrs Oloruntoyosi Thomas advised women in politics to respect their husbands.

Thomas, one of the guest speaker, said men who support their wives in politics are worthy of honour.

She said that political offices are not bed of roses, but a call to serve and fight for integrity.

“Being a politician or holding public offices is not as easy as people see it. It comes with a lot of challenges and persecution.

” But when you put your trust and plans before God, you will overcome,” she said.

The YOWICAN Chairman, Evang. Stephen Adeola- Awoyale said the program was organized purposely to challenge Christian youths in the country to be involved in politics.

” We we are calling christian youths into action. It is time for them to partake in politics and stop being aparty,” he said.

Awoyale , however, called on Christian re leaders to encourage active participation of youths in politics.
