NSCDC Commandant Orders Tight Security in Kwara, Warns Officers Against Corruption

The Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Umar J.G. Mohammed, has ordered Area Commanders and Divisional Officers across the state to step up security efforts and tailor crime-reduction strategies in their local environments.

Dr Umar gave the directive during a strategic meeting with senior officers on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Ilorin.

He stressed the importance of a proactive, community-focused approach to security, urging intensified patrols, greater public engagement, and swift response to threats.

“Security challenges are becoming more complex, and our officers must stay ahead through effective intelligence gathering and prompt intervention,” he said.

The Commandant reminded personnel of the Corps’ core mandate to protect national assets and maintain law and order. He warned against misconduct, including corruption, extortion, and disrespectful behaviour towards citizens.

“We must reflect integrity, civility, and professionalism in all our duties. Any officer found guilty of misconduct will face disciplinary action,” he warned.

Dr Umar also reiterated the stance of the NSCDC Commandant-General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, on strict discipline and accountability within the Corps.

He urged officers to boost intelligence gathering, especially around critical infrastructure, to prevent crimes like banditry, vandalism, and sabotage.

He also called for closer collaboration with other security agencies, noting that “security is a shared responsibility” that requires synergy and information sharing.

The meeting signaled a renewed commitment by the Kwara NSCDC to ensure safety and public confidence through coordinated and efficient security operations.
