KWASU to Spotlight Innovation in Education as Host of 2025 KU8+ Conference
Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, is gearing up to host the third edition of the KU8+ Conference, a major gathering of academic minds and stakeholders in the education sector, from August 6 to 8, 2025.
The university’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Olubukola Christianah Dada, who doubles as the chairperson of the Local Organising Committee, confirmed that preparations are in top gear to welcome scholars, industry experts, and community leaders for the three-day conference.
According to her, “KWASU is proud to host this edition of the KU8+ conference. It’s not just a gathering of scholars, but a platform to build lasting partnerships that can redefine the future of higher education in Nigeria.”
She revealed that the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, will deliver the keynote address, with two lead paper presentations also lined up. In addition, two pre-conference workshops will be conducted by renowned academics.
The conference will also feature key figures in Nigeria’s education sector. Emeritus Professor Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, CON, FNAL, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and Chairman, Board of Trustees of KU8+, will grace the event as Special Guest of Honour.
Also expected is Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and Chair of KU8+, who will serve as Chief Host, while the Vice-Chancellor of KWASU, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Alade Jimoh, will play host to the conference.
Themed “Innovation and Sustainability of Higher Education in a Changing World,” the conference aims to spark critical conversations and collaborative efforts toward repositioning Nigeria’s tertiary institutions for future challenges.
KU8+ is a consortium of public and private universities within Kwara State, created to foster synergy, knowledge sharing, and joint initiatives among member institutions.
“KU8+ is a unique platform that reflects what we can achieve when institutions come together with a common vision,” said Professor Jimoh. “This conference is not only about academic presentations, but about laying a foundation for impactful solutions in higher education.”
The event is expected to draw wide participation from academics, policymakers, education technologists, and university administrators across Nigeria.
