Eid-El-Fitr: FRSC Deploys 650 Personnel, Intensifies Traffic Control in Kwara
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kwara State has mobilized 650 personnel, including officers, marshals, and 350 Special Marshals, to ensure smooth traffic flow during the Eid-El-Fitr celebrations.
The deployment, which also includes 120 first responders, 16 patrol vehicles, power bikes, ambulances, and tow trucks, is aimed at preventing road crashes and easing movement across major roads in the state.
Kwara State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Mufutau A. Irekeola, disclosed this in a statement by the Public Education Officer, Basambo Olayinka Busari.
He noted that officers have been strategically positioned at key locations in Ilorin and other major cities from March 27 to April 2, 2025, to manage traffic and enforce road safety regulations.
Irekeola urged motorists to prioritize safety by avoiding reckless driving, excessive speeding, wrongful overtaking, overloading, and the use of phones while driving.
He also warned against the operation of faulty vehicles and driving with worn-out tyres, emphasizing that violations would not be tolerated.
“As we celebrate this festive period, I appeal to all road users to be mindful of traffic rules. Only the living celebrate. Drive with caution,” Irekeola advised.
In addition to road monitoring, the FRSC is conducting public enlightenment campaigns in motor parks, markets, churches, and mosques to educate motorists on safe driving practices. Special traffic control operations have also been intensified to prevent congestion on major highways.
The FRSC assured that emergency rescue services, including ambulances and tow trucks, have been stationed along key roads to swiftly clear obstructions and respond to emergencies.
While wishing residents a joyful Eid-El-Fitr, Irekeola reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to ensuring a hitch-free celebration across Kwara State.
