Fire Guts Four-Bedroom Flat in Ilorin as Kwara Fire Service Warns on Safety

A late-night ffire has razed a four-bedroom flat at Ita-Elepa, Ifesowapo Street, Ilorin, Kwara State

Preliminary investigations attributed the incident, which happened on Sunday, February 16, 2005, to a power surge.

According to a statement signed by the Head of Media and Publicity, Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, the fire service received a distress call at about 8:52 p.m. and promptly deployed a crew to the scene.

However, by the time they arrived, the flames had already consumed the structure, making it difficult to salvage the building.

Reacting to the incident, the Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, emphasized the need for residents to prioritize safety measures to prevent fire outbreaks.

“We urge the public to be vigilant and take fire safety precautions seriously. Simple steps like switching off electrical appliances when not in use can prevent disasters like this,” he stated.

The Kwara State Fire Service reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property through timely emergency response and fire prevention campaigns.
