IDF confirms Israeli fighter jets conducted multiple airstrikes in Lebanon
The IDF confirms that Israeli fighter jets conducted multiple airstrikes in Lebanon earlier today, including an attack on a tunnel in the Beqaa Valley that Hezbollah has used to smuggle weapons between Lebanon and Syria. The military notes that this tunnel had been previously targeted and emphasizes its commitment to preventing its reconstruction and use.
In addition, the IDF struck several Hezbollah positions, including weapons depots and rocket launchers that it described as posing an “immediate threat” to Israel. The military also stated that these sites violated existing agreements between Israel and Lebanon.
Lebanese media have also confirmed a wave of airstrikes in the Nabatieh region, about 20 kilometers from the Israeli border, as well as in the Baalbek area of the Beqaa Valley, nearly 100 kilometers away.
Lebanese media report that Israeli airstrikes have targeted areas near the villages of Houmine, Aazze, and Kafroue in the Nabatieh Governorate, approximately 20 kilometers north of the Israeli border.
The IDF also reported thwarting an attempt to smuggle weapons into Israel from Egypt earlier today using a drone.
Military forces identified the drone as it crossed the border from Egypt and quickly moved to intercept it. Upon retrieval, troops discovered it was carrying three rifles, the IDF stated.
