Senator Saliu Mustapha Debunks Defection Rumours, Reaffirms Loyalty to APC

The Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District and Turaki of Ilorin, Senator Saliu Mustapha, has dismissed as baseless the reports credited to the social media alleging his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and purported endorsement by another political platform.

In a statement released by his media aide, Nasif Sholagberu, Senator Mustapha described the claims as fabrications designed to mislead the public, which should be disregard.

“Our attention has been drawn to a series of fabricated reports circulating on social media, alleging a purported endorsement and defection involving Senator Saliu Mustapha, the Turaki of Ilorin Emirate and Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District,” the statement read.

Senator Mustapha noted that he remains committed to his mandate in the National Assembly, focused on providing quality representation to the people of Kwara Central, and would not be distracted by what he described as “cheap and unfounded propaganda.”

The statement further emphasized his unwavering loyalty to the APC, highlighting his role as a founding member of the party.

“As one of the privileged signatories to the historic February 2013 agreement that collapsed the three legacy parties to form the APC, his contributions to the creation, growth, and continued success of the party are well documented and highly regarded by stakeholders and members,” it added.

The senator called on the public to disregard the reports, stating that the sponsors of such falsehoods are driven by ulterior motives and desperation.

“Leadership and ambition are determined solely by the will of God Almighty, not by smear campaigns,” he affirmed.

The statement urged citizens to treat the reports as the imagination of mischief makers with nothing constructive to offer.
