NGF Chairman Commiserates with Niger State Over Petrol Tanker Explosion Tragedy

 

The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Saturday visited Niger State to commiserate with Governor Umar Bago and victims of the recent petrol tanker explosion that claimed several lives and left many injured.

Governor AbdulRazaq described the incident as “devastating and sad,” expressing his grief during the visit to the explosion site. His sentiments were contained in a statement issued by Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, and shared with journalists in Ilorin.

“The Forum is saddened by the petrol tanker explosion in Niger State, in which dozens of people have been killed or injured,” the NGF Chairman said in the statement.

The statement extended heartfelt condolences to Governor Bago, the bereaved families, and the injured victims. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones in the incident, and we wish those injured quick healing,” he added.

Governor AbdulRazaq also urged Nigerians to prioritize safety, especially during emergencies involving petrol spills, emphasizing the need for caution to prevent such tragedies.

“The Forum prays for the repose of the souls of the dead victims,” the statement concluded.

The tanker explosion in Niger State has drawn widespread sympathy, with calls for stricter safety measures to avoid a recurrence of such incidents.
