Another banger for Fubara as pro-Wike lawmakers pass three bills

The political crisis in Rivers state has taken another shape as the Rivers State House of Assembly, under Speaker Martins Amaewhule, passed three critical bills into laws without Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s assent.

According to reports, this move follows constitutional guidelines that allow the legislature to bypass the governor’s approval when assent is withheld.

Reports revealed that the laws include the Rivers State Education (Return of Schools) (Amendment) Bill, the Rivers Electricity Market Bill, and the Rivers State Commissions of Inquiry Bill 2024.

It would be recalled that these bills had been previously forwarded to Governor Siminialayi Fubara but were stalled due to his inaction.
