Amnesty Int’l Suspends Israel Branch for Questioning Gaza ‘Genocide’ Claims

After taking significant heat for claiming the Jewish State is committing genocide in Gaza, Amnesty International took out its vengeance against its own Israel chapter by suspending branch operations for two years.

In a January 6 internal letter obtained by The New York Post, Amnesty interim chairman Tiumalu Lauvale Peter Fa’afiu accused the Israeli branch of “endemic anti-Palestinian racism” as justification for closure.

“Its efforts to publicly undermine the findings and recommendations of Amnesty’s 2022 report on Israel’s Apartheid against Palestinians and, more recently, Amnesty’s 2024 report, have been deeply prejudicial to Amnesty’s human rights mission,” Fa’afiu wrote.

While the Israeli branch maintains the conflict has brought devastating civilian casualties, labeling Israel’s military response as ‘genocide’ grossly misrepresents both the legal definition and the reality on the ground.

Israel has no intent to harm civilians in its defensive war against Hamas. Before conducting strikes in Gaza, the IDF employs every effort to minimize civilian casualties through advance warnings, evacuation notices, and precision targeting. A far cry from Hamas, who uses their own civilians as human shields and ransacks incoming humanitarian aid at gunpoint.

Jewish advocacy groups were quick to condemn Amnesty’s latest attack on Israel.

“How did human rights organizations like Amnesty become so distorted from their original missions?” StopAntisemitism lamented to The Post. “Why are they fixated on vilifying the world’s only Jewish state for defending itself during wartime while turning a blind eye to genuine atrocities unfolding in China, Iran, and Sudan?”

StopAntisemitism is also calling for Congress and the IRS to reexamine Amnesty International’s tax-exempt status, arguing the organization has abandoned its humanitarian mission in favor of antisemitic policies. While Amnesty’s decision can be appealed, a review panel will determine whether to reinstate the branch or permanently ban it completely. (JBN)
