Flood: Bauchi Govt. Distributes Relief Materials To Victims

The Bauchi State Government, through the State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management has commenced the distribution of relief materials to persons affected by flood disasters in the state.

The items distributed were donated by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Government of the United Arab Emirate (UAE).

Speaking during the flagging off of the exercise, Hajiya Hajara Wanka, the State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, said that the State Government is committed to always coming to the aid of the citizens in their time of need.

She said that the items being distributed were donated by the UAE and NEMA, adding that Gov. Bala Mohammed also complemented the effort by donating bags of rice and maize.

According to her, the items shared were basically essential relief materials to communities affected by the 2024 flood disaster across 14 Local Government areas of the State.

While handing over the relief package donated by NEMA, the Zonal Head of Operations of the Agency, Hajiya Umma Ahmed, expressed NEMA’s hope that the items would assist in aiding the victims of the flood.

She also appreciated the State Government for designing a workable distribution template that would ensure equitable distribution of the items donated.

In his vote of thanks, Director-General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Engr. Mas’ud Aliyu, expressed Bauchi State Government gratitude to both NEMA, UAE Government for the donated items, stressing their critical roles in alleviating the hardships faced by the victims.

Items distributed at the flag off exercise includes; hundreds of bags of rice and maize, pumping sprays, and 500 knapsack sprayers, among others.
