Police In Kwara Recover Stolen Vehicle from Lagos, Arrest Two Suspects

 

The Kwara State Police Command has successfully recovered a stolen Toyota Camry (Reg. No. APP 443 CX) reported missing from Lagos.

Acting on intelligence provided by a motor spare parts dealer in Ipata-Oloje, Ilorin, police operatives apprehended two suspects in connection with the crime.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, and made available to journalists in Ilorin, the arrests occurred on November 22, 2024, at about 6:00 pm.

“The suspects, identified as Gabiyu Lawal (43) of Babasoja, Gambari, Ilorin, and Ademola Waheed (45) of Sango Road, Ilorin, were intercepted with the vehicle.

A search of the car led to the discovery of a GSM number linked to the rightful owner, Mr. Ajibade Abel of Badagry Road, Lagos. Upon contact, Mr. Abel confirmed the vehicle had been stolen from a parking lot in Lagos, with the incident reported to the Area C Police Command in Surulere, Lagos.”

According to the statement, the suspects admitted purchasing the stolen vehicle for a suspiciously low price of ₦400,000 and planned to resell it in Ilorin for ₦1,000,000.

Investigations are ongoing to identify other accomplices and uncover further criminal activities linked to the suspects.

Commending the vigilance of the public, Commissioner of Police CP Victor Olaiya urged citizens to continue cooperating with law enforcement by providing timely intelligence to enhance security in the state.

The police reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across Kwara State.
