Gov. Mohammed presents N465bn 2025 budget for Bauchi

Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has presented N465 billion for 2025 Appropriation Bill to the state House of Assembly for approval.

Presenting the proposals, tagged: “Budget of consolidation and sustainable Development on Thursday in Bauchi, Mohammed assured members of the house that the budget would be fully implemented.

According to him, the budget which complied with the national format chart of accounts, has the sum of N282.3 billion as Capital Expenditure representing 60.7 per cent and N182.7 billion for Recurrent Expenditure, representing 39.3 per cent.

Mohammed said that the budget was 18 per cent higher than the budget presented to the house in 2024.

He said that the increase was attributable to the inflation which has affected prices upon which prices upon which the government’s projects and programmes would be implemented.

The governor explained that the budget was prepared based on the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework in compliance with the Bauchi State Fiscal Responsibility Law.

This, he said was aimed at improving the quality of financial reporting in line with the International Public-Sector Accounting Standards

While appraising the performance of 2024 budget, Mohammed said that it achieved about 51.6 per cent, adding that at the end of the fiscal year, they would achieve a total performance percentage of over
80 per cent.

He however, solicited the continuous support of the lawmakers towards the development of the state and speedy passage of the 2025 Appropriation Bill into law.

Responding, the Speaker,Mr Abubakar Sulaiman, assured that the budget would be speedily scrutinised and passed into law within a shortest time.
