Bauchi Governor Flags Off Construction, Rehabilitation of 38-Km Roads

Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has flagged off the construction of a 38-kilometre road in Kirfi Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking during the flagging off ceremony, Mohammed said that the road would link Bara, Hashidu, Tubule,Garin Malam Julde-Wanka communities in Kirfi Local Government Area.
According to him, the state government is also embarking on the rehabilitation of the 17-kilometre Alkaleri-Kirfi road at the same time, bringing the total cost of projects to N18.2 billion.
“The two projects signify a great move toward the fulfillment of our campaign promises to the good people of Kirfi Local Government.
“These projects revolve around transformation of rural communities by providing road infrastructure to improve agricultural activities, boost commercial capacity of small and medium scale farmers.
“It would also provide basic amenities in the areas of basic education and primary health development for the people of the area.
“The contract for the two projects has been awarded at the cost of N11.9 billion for the construction of Bara, Hashidu, Tubule,Garin Malam Julde-Wanka road and N6.3 billion for the rehabilitation of Alkaleri-Kirfi road bringing the total cost of the projects to N18.2 billion,” he said.
The governor explained that the state government had already paid the contractors 30 per cent of the project’s cost for mobilisation.
He assured the contractors of the commitment and support of the state government in terms of payment.
Mohammed called on the contractors to put in their best into the projects and achieve the highest standard within the timeline allotted.
He urged the people along the projects’ corridor to cooperate with the contractors so as to effectively execute the projects.
