Kwara Diaspora Group Backs Youth Minister, Sets Agenda for Youth Development
… Calls for Enhanced Support and Policy Review
A group of young professionals from Kwara State, under the banner of the Association of Young Kwara Professionals in Diaspora (ASYKWAPID), has expressed strong support for the Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamilah Ibrahim Bio. The group praised her leadership and the initiatives she has introduced since taking office.
The group emphasized that the current youth development policies spearheaded by Dr. Jamilah Ibrahim Bio are a continuation of the former President Buhari’s administration’s efforts in youth development.
They urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to build on these foundations through his ‘Renewed Hope Regime.’
Highlighting the recent announcement regarding the registration of the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) and other initiatives under the Ministry, ASYKWAPID described these efforts as commendable, noting that they reflect the priorities of the previous administration and should be adapted to meet current challenges.
In a statement released signed by the National Coordinator, Mr. Abdulwaheed Sulaiman, and National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ahmad Adebayo, the group voiced concerns about Nigeria’s worsening economic conditions.
They stressed the need to involve the youth more significantly in policies that affect their future.
“As young professionals, we are deeply concerned about the declining economic and social conditions in Nigeria, which are affecting the quality of life for everyday citizens.
“We call on all Nigerians, particularly the youth, to rally behind the Youth Development Ministry under Dr. Jamilah Ibrahim Bio and support her policies aimed at uplifting our nation’s young people,” the statement read.
The group also commended the Minister’s efforts during a recent interactive session in Abuja with stakeholders from across the country.
They highlighted her call for a comprehensive review of the youth development policy, which she noted was outdated and needed to be updated to reflect current realities.
“There is no doubt that Nigeria, with one of the largest youth populations in the world, needs to enhance the quality of life for its young people.
“We are confident that with the right support, the challenges facing Nigeria’s youth can be overcome, and the country can become more attractive for young people, reducing the allure of migration.”
ASYKWAPID concluded by urging the Youth Minister to tailor youth development initiatives to address the present economic situation, ensuring they are effective and impactful.
The group called for collaborative efforts from all stakeholders to navigate the nation out of its current economic and social challenges.
