Delta Airlines Extends Canceled Service to Israel Until October
Delta Airlines has revealed that it will not resume its Israel-bound flights in early September as initially planned. Instead, the airline has pushed back its return until October, leaving a significant gap in travel options for passengers between the two countries.
Delta’s decision traces back to late July when Iran threatened a large-scale attack against Israel. This threat came in the wake of the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, an event that has caused tensions in the tourism industry.
El Al will now remain the sole airline operating flights between Israel and the United States for at least another month.
In a more drastic move, American Airlines recently announced that it will not resume its Israel-bound flights until Spring 2025.
Meanwhile, many European aviation giants are following suit, with KLM extending its suspension all the way to October 26th.
Spanish carriers Iberia Express, Air Europa, and Vueling have temporarily suspended their routes. Greek airline Aegean, Polish LOT, Hungarian Wizz Air, and even Fly Dubai have all pulled their Tel Aviv-bound flights from their schedules.
