Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has reaffirmed his commitment to empowering and advancing young people in his constituency, Kwara State and Nigeria at large.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Nasif Sholagberu, on Monday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, to commemorate the 2024 International Youth Day themed “Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” Sen. Mustapha praised the resilience and achievements of Nigerian youth in various sectors.
He emphasized the crucial role they play in driving both national and global progress.
The senator stressed the importance of youth leveraging opportunities in the digital economy to develop their skills and achieve self-sufficiency.
He also encouraged young people to harness their talents for positive impact, avoid detrimental activities and continue striving for excellence.
“As we celebrate youth across the world, I want to reiterate my commitment to uplifting young people in Kwara Central and Nigeria at large.
“I commend the resilience of Nigerian youth and recognize their accomplishments in various fields. Their significant contributions to national and global progress are greatly appreciated,” Sen. Mustapha stated.
He further encouraged youths to channel their knowledge and skills into ventures that can advance the country, saying “as part of the activities marking this year’s International Youth Day, my foundation, the Saliu Mustapha Foundation, is partnering with a digital media platform in Kwara, Sho Pen Online, to organize a Digital Skills Workshop from August 15th to 16th”.
He therefore urged young people to enroll in the workshop to acquire new skills.
Senator Mustapha, who is also the Turaki of Ilorin, cautioned youths against indulging in substance abuse, engaging in activities or other vices that could hinder their pursuit of excellence.
The lawmaker wished all Nigerian youths a peaceful celebration and urged them to keep aspiring, learning and pushing boundaries.
