Gunmen Kill Hotel Manager in Ilorin: Cultism Suspected

 

Hunmen suspected to be members Confraternity have shot and killed Anthony Balogun, the manager of a hotel in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Balogun, who managed the hotel owned by his mother, was killed around 8 p.m. at the hotel located in the Olunlade area of Ilorin on Thursday.

Reports indicate that two gunmen entered the hotel and asked to see the manager. Believing they were potential customers, Balogun met them at the reception.

The assailants then lured him outside and shot him in the chest at close range. They also attacked him with a machete, inflicting injuries to his head, hands, and legs.

Kwara State Police Commissioner Victor Olaiya confirmed the incident, attributing it to the ongoing rivalry between cult groups, specifically noting that it was linked to the activities of the 8/8 cultists following the 7/7 celebrations by another confraternity.

The commissioner assured that the police are actively pursuing the culprits and vowed to bring them to justice.

The incident was reported at the Ganmo Divisional Police Station, and Balogun’s body has been taken to the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital in Ilorin for an autopsy.
