Nationwide protest: SGF, NSA, ministers hold emergency meeting in Abuja

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, is currently holding a closed-door meeting with over 40 ministers from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.

The meeting is centered around addressing the upcoming nationwide protest against economic hardship.

Among the ministers present are notable figures such as Nyesom Wike (FCT), Yusuf Tuggar (Foreign Affairs), Zephaniah Jisalo (Special Duties), Tahir Mamman (Education), and Abubakar Bagudu (Budget and Planning). Also in attendance are Wale Edun (Finance), Mohammed Idris (Information), Bello Matawalle (Defence), David Umahi (Works), and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

This meeting follows President Tinubu’s plea earlier this week for Nigerians to reconsider the #EndBadGovernance protest, which is set to begin on August 1.

The protest, which has garnered significant attention on social media, is planned to take place across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
