KWASU Among Six Institutions Selected for ICT Experience Centre
Kwara State University (KWASU) in Malete has been selected as one of the six pilot universities for the establishment of ICT Experience Centres.
This initiative is a collaboration between the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and the Office of the First Lady to enhance technological education in public tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
The announcement was made in a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, signed by the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Architect Sonny S.T. Echono.
According to the letter, the initiative is part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Education and the Federal Ministry of Communication, Technology, and Digital Economy’s Learn to Earn Programme.
The main goal of these ICT Experience Centres is to equip undergraduates and educational institutions with the necessary skills, infrastructure, and mindset to succeed in a digitally-driven world.
The project aims to provide students with tailored technological education and opportunities to thrive in the digital era.
KWASU has been chosen for the first phase of this initiative, which includes six pilot ICT Experience Centres, one in each geopolitical zone of the country.
Reacting to the news, the Vice-Chancellor of KWASU, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, expressed delight at the selection, highlighting it as a testament to the university’s strategic positioning as a hub for training 21st-century individuals who contribute significantly to national development.
