Kwara State Fire Service Successfully Contains Fire in Two-Flat Building
Kwara State Fire Service on Thursday successfully contained a fire incident reported at off Bolakele Street Ali-maruf checking point area, Ilorin
This is contained in a statement signed by Hassan Adekunle, the Head of Department, Media and Publicity, Kwara Stste Fire Service and made available to newsmen in Ilorin.
“Today Wednesday, 12th June, 2024. at approximately 16:24 hours, the Kwara State Fire Service received a distress call reporting a fire incident at off Bolakele Street Ali-maruf checking point area Ilorin, Ilorin west local Government Kwara State.
The caller, Mr. Abdulmumeen, alerted the authorities to the ongoing fire situation.
Upon receiving the emergency call, the Fire Crew promptly responded and turned out swiftly to the reported location.
The incident involved a building comprising of 2flats two bedrooms each, one room directly affected by the raging fire.
The firemen at the scene displayed remarkable skill and efficiency, employing their prowess to contain the fire and prevent its spread within the building and adjacent structures.
Through their swift response and strategic firefighting maneuvers, they successfully reduced the menace of the fire, safeguarding nearby buildings from further damage.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire was caused by a power surge, which ignited the inferno within the building.
The Director Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa advised that to avoid similar incidents in the future, residents and property owners in the area should install and regularly maintain appropriate fire safety measures, including surge protectors, circuit breakers, and fire extinguishers.
According to him, raising awareness about fire safety protocols in the community can also contribute to preventing such occurrences.
