Democracy Day: APC Chieftain Drums Support For Tinubu, AbdulRazaq
A Legal Luminary and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Debo Aderibigbe, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigerians on the celebration of Democracy Day, saying it is time to pray fervently for the desired economic turnaround in view of the various challenges confronting the nation.
In a statement issued on behalf of Barrister Adebayo Reps Project and Kwara Advancement Forum, Aderibigbe identified Democracy as a platform to promote good governance and foster national development with improvement in the socio-economic welfare of the people as its cardinal dividend.
He noted that legitimacy of the state, improved conditions of living, delivery of infrastructure, employment opportunities, empowerment of the citizenry, quality education, enhanced agriculture sector, improved health care delivery and transportation system, strengthened legislative arm, upholding the rule of law through the Judiciary, efficient public service, poverty reduction, provision of basic amenities, conducive business environment and ensuring adequate security of lives and property are some of the dividends of democracy being enjoyed under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The APC chieftain noted “The government of President Tinubu has recorded success in tax reforms, and formulation of the Accelerated Stabilization and Advancement Plan, which is a cross government response to stabilizing the nation’s economy and repositioning it towards a higher growth trajectory.
“It has also preoccupied itself with attraction of foreign investments both institutional and infrastructural, efficient application of social safety net, provision of nationwide roads, airports and seaports infrastructure, formulation of national education policies and improved workers’ welfare”.
The legal luminary also congratulated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State and his administration for the people-oriented programmes being implemented as a democratically elected government.
Aderibigbe listed some of the achievements of Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration to include road infrastructural development projects embarked upon across the State, payment of salary arrears to all sixteen Local Government workers in the State, apportionment of instructional materials and sports kits to schools for quality education.
“Government also carried out renovation of schools, hospitals and public health centres, rehabilitation of dams for drinkable water supply, disbursement of bursary awards to students in tertiary institutions and the Nigerian Law Schools.
“Others included introduction of all-round farming programmes for food security for Kwarans, improved welfare for civil servants and pensioners, prompt payment of salaries of workers and medical personnel in government hospitals and clinics, employment opportunities in the Garment Factory, Digital Hub, Visual Centre, Statewide social safety net intervention programmes for poverty reduction through KWASSIP, investment in sport development as well as general human capital development initiatives as dividends of democracy being enjoyed by Kwarans amongst others”, he maintained.
The legal luminary called on President Tinubu and Governor AbdulRazaq not to relent in their resolve at improving the welfare of the generality of Nigerians, security of lives and property, and turning the economy around for improved Gross Domestic Product.
He also asked the people to reciprocate by giving the administrations maximum support to enable them have a successful tenure of office for more dividends of democracy to permeate the strata of the society for the benefit of all citizens in tandem with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
