Two Kwara Pilgrims Die, Hawawu Mohammed didn’t commit suicide
No fewer than two Nigerian pilgrims from Kwara State have died in Saudi Arabia, according a report by the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Board.
They are; Saliu Mohammed and Hawawu Mohammed of batches 3 and 9 of the airlifts respectively.
It was gathered that while Saliu (batch 3) died in an intensive care unit of a public hospital in Madina after brief illness, Hawawu (Batch 9) died following what Saudi authorities have investigated and found to be an unfortunate episode from the rooftop of her apartment in Madina.
The statement said: “We deeply regrets these sad events, but submits totally to the decree and ultimate knowledge of Allaah in all affairs.”
Meanwhile, facts had emerged on the circumstance that led to the demise of Hawawu Mohammed, a pilgrim from Kwara State in Saudi Arabia.
It was reliably gathered that contrary to the report making rounds that the deceased committed suicide, the unfortunate incidence occurred in a different circumstance.
According to our source in Saudi Arabia, “Hajia Hawawu was a pilgrim from around Igbeti town in Oyo state but travelled with the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards.
“She entered an elevator and pressed the last floor. When she got to the last floor and wanted to trek down, may be she didn’t know the floor was upstairs. She rolled from that floor down 15 story building.”
“May be she thought she can fine her way there. She didn’t commit suicide, it is quite unfortunate and regrettable but we accept the verdict of Almighty Allah.”
