Group Takes Charity to General Hospital, Presents Monetary Gifts
An Islamic Non-Governmental Organisation, Sisters of Jannah, Ilorin Zone, has part of its charity activities visited the General Hospital, Ilorin and presented monetary gifts to patients.
The visit held on Sunday had members of the association visiting the post natal surgical ward, gynaecological ward and maternity wards to offer prayers and give hope to the patients.
Mrs Rukayat Balogun led the members in praying for speedy recovery of the patients after which N10,000 monetary gifts was presented to 10 patients each.
The patients expressed happiness and appreciation to the members of the association for their gesture and prayed that they won’t be afflicted with illness.
SOJ Coordinator, Ilorin Zone, Mrs Mistura Afolabi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the essence of the visit was to show love and uphold one of the teachings of Islam towards the sick people.
She said members just deemed it fit to visit the patients and give them hope that they have not been forgotten, as well as support them in a little way.
” As the Prophet Muhammed (SAW) advised that we should be each other’s keepers and also a shoulder to lean on, we decided to come to give hope and show love to the sick people.
”Also, one of the agendas of SOJ is to show love to the less privileged and the vulnerables,” Mrs Afolabi said.
She noted that the gifts donated to the patients came from monthly dues from members of the association as well as donations from well wishers.
SOJ is a female-only Muslim group with different zones across Nigeria, dedicated to helping fellow Muslim women and children around the world
The Ilorin Zone of the group have been involved in various charitable activities, such as free cancer screenings for women, building of wells, donation of school items, visitation of orphanages and correctional centres.
