We ‘ll review our responses within current realities -Gov. AbdulRazaq assures workers

Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara has assured workers in the state that his administration will continue to review responses within current realities.
AbdulRazaq gave the assurance on Wednesday during his fraternity message to workers on the 2024 May Day celebration in Ilorin.
The governor who was represented by the Kwara Chief of Staff, Abdulkadir Maye, described workers as an integral component of governance and the life-wire of government.
AAbdulRazaq while enumerating efforts of the state government to cushion effects of current economic travails, triggered by removal of the fuel subsidy, assured workers of an improved welfarism.
” Today, we recognise the invaluable contributions of workers to the socioeconomic growth and development of our state.
“ We will continue to review our responses within current realities, including the implementation of another minimum wage, as soon as all processes have been concluded,” he assured.
He said his administration had responded in various ways to mitigate teething effects of the new reforms of President Bola Tinubu.
” We have introduced a monthly transport support, otherwise known as wage award, staggered working days, and implemented various promotion and other welfare packages, meant to strengthen the spending powers of the workers.
“ We have similarly rolled out different layers of support to the general public in our holistic approach to lessen the impacts of the reforms,” the governor said.
He said his administration had a responsibility to provide good and sustainable governance to the people of Kwara.
The governor vowed to remain committed to truth and to the oath he swore to protect the people.
He commended the workers for their sacrifice and service to the state.
The Kwara NLC Chairman, Comrade Muritala Olayinka, in his speech, appealed to the state government to constitute a Minimum Wage Committee for smooth implementation.
He commended workers for their turnout amidst the fuel crisis in the country.
” I want to congratulate every worker present. This is a special day in the history of workers globally.
” I urge you to remain committed to service and never relent in your patriotism to the nation,” he said.
He thanked AbdulRasaq for his consistent support to workers in the state.
Unions in the state embarked on a parade to commemorate the workers’ day celebration.
The correspondent reports that top government officials were also present at the celebration.
