Kwara Fire Service Sensitises Baboko Market Women To Mitigate Fire Hazards

 

The Kwara State Fire Service on Thursday organised sensitisation talk on essential firefighting techniques and preventive measures to mitigate fire hazards for market women in Baboko Oja Tuntun, Ilorin.

On Thursday, March 14th, 2024, the Media team of the Kwara State Fire Service continued its sensitization programme at Baboko Market (Oja-tuntun).

The primary goal was to educate market vendors on essential firefighting techniques and preventive measures to mitigate fire hazards.

To ensure thorough coverage, the program was strategically conducted at five different locations within the market, targeting various sections and vendors.

During the programme, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Baboko Market conveyed gratitude for the proactive efforts of the Kwara Fire Service Media team.

Specifically, he appreciated the leadership of SFO II Hassan Adekunle, who heads the Media and Publicity Department for Kwara State Fire Service and also the Director Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John.

This acknowledgment highlights the positive impact and effectiveness of the sensitization initiative in fostering community engagement and awareness.

Moreover, amidst the programme, the market vendors voiced their concerns and appealed to the state government for additional support.

Specifically, they requested the establishment of a fire station at Baboko Market to enhance emergency response capabilities and ensure prompt assistance in the event of fire incidents.

This plea underscores the importance of addressing infrastructure needs to bolster fire safety measures within the local community.
