Kwara Reads Riot Acts to Substandard Schools Owners
The Kwara State Government has given all substandard and unregistered private schools three months ultimatum to get their schools registered and adhere to the regulated standard required of all schools or face the penalty. The State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, gave the ultimatum on Wednesday during a meeting with the owners of unregistered private schools across the State in the conference room of the Ministry.
Hajia Modibbo who frowned at the inability of some owners of private schools to comply with the regulations guiding the establishment of private schools, warned that the State government will not hesitate to take necessary actions against any private schools’ operators intending to sabotage its efforts.
While advising the illegal operators of private schools across the State to ensure they follow due process in establishing and registering their schools, the Commissioner expressed dismay over their substandard schools, which are not in the interest of the children whom she described as the future of the State.
“The government will not compromise its standard. A solid and efficient foundational learning is key and the right of every child”, Hajia Modibbo said.
“It will be recalled that the Kwara State government closed down Issa Model Nursery and Primary School located at Agaka Area, Ilorin West Local Government Area of the State last week Wednesday and apprehended Sunnik Nursrey and Primary School, Gbako, Oko-Olowo Area of Ilorin for failing to comply with the basic standard of the establishment and operation of private schools in the State”, the Commissioner further revealed.
