NLC, TUC Suspend Nationwide Strike

The Joint National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, have suspended the ongoing strike over the battering of the NLC President, Joe Ajaero, among other pending issues.

The strike was suspended following the intervention of the Federal Government through the Office of the National Security Adviser, NSA.

However, discussions on the labour demands would continue.

During the meeting, a thorough review of the offers presented by the federal government, through the National Security Adviser, was conducted.

The strike, which commenced on the 14th of November 2023, was initiated in response to the distressing abduction and brutalization of NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero and others.

These incidents occurred in Owerri, Imo state, on the 1st day of November 2023, allegedly at the hands of the Police and thugs associated with Governor Hope Uzodimma.
