29th Convocation: 102 Students of Kwara Poly Bag Distinction
A total of 102 students of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, have bagged Distinction and Upper Credit in the 2022/2023 National Diploma and Higher National Diploma of the Polytechnic.
The Rector of the institution, Dr Abdul Jimoh Muhammed disclosed this at a media briefing on the Occasion of the 29th Convocation Ceremony of the Polytechnic in Ilorin Kwara State on Wednesday
Engr Abdul Jimoh Muhammed said
8,350 students will on Thursday, graduate at the 29th convocation ceremony of the Polytechnic with a Higher National Diploma HND 3,000 students while the National Diploma ND 5,350 students including part-time students.
Engr Muhammed noted that the press conference was to usher in the 29th convocation ceremony of the Polytechnic held between Wednesday, 8th and Thursday, 9th November, 203.
“Several activities have been laid out for today and tomorrow. The first activity was the inter-denominational prayers which were done at the Polytechnic Central Mosque and Chapel respectively earlier this morning.
Traditionally, we believe in seeking the helping hand of God in whatever we do, hence, the need for prayers to seek the good face and guidance of Almighty God.
The second activity is what we are witnessing now. There will be a convocation lecture to be delivered by Engr. Dr Taofeeq AbdulHameed at 2:00 pm today at the Rear Admiral Muhammed Alabi Lawal Auditorium.
The second day which is the grand finale will witness the presentation of prizes to outstanding students across the various institutes of the Polytechnic” he said
Engr Muhammed commended the Kwara State Governor Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazak for creating an enabling environment for the management of the institution to discharge its duties effectively.
While highlighting the achievements of the Polytechnic and the IGR projects to be commissioned which include 33KV projects, renovated old IOT lecture halls, laboratories/workshops and offices, 2.5 Km reinforced concrete drainage, The remodelled library and information science Department, Zango power projects, renovation of IOT complex, Construction of drainages, landscaping/Construction of walkway, centralized online research assessment and submission system (CORASS)/Digital Project Binding, renovation of the old library, renovation of medical lodge.
He also said some of the challenges of the institution include funding, illegal occupation of polytechnic land, illegal occupation of polytechnic land, porosity of the permanent campus, accreditation of programmes, and ageing structure.
