Don’t Allow Frivolities to Affect Your Commitments – Gov. AbdulRazaq Advises Corps Members

Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq of Kwara has advised the newly sworn-in National Youth Service Corps members in the state to shun frivolities and remain committed to the camp activities and orientation courses.

AbdulRasaq advised on Tuesday during the Official Opening/Swearing-In Ceremony for the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 Orientation Course, held at Yikpata, Kwara NYSC camp.

The governor who was represented by the State Supervising Commissioner for the Ministry of Youth Development, Mr Usman Lade, however,  called on the corps members to be committed and embrace discipline throughout their stay.

AbdulRsaq tasked new corps members to be good ambassadors of their families and the NYSC scheme by exhibiting sterling qualities of service and humility.

He also advised the corps members to be actively involved in all camp activities and not embrace laziness.

The governor also enjoined them to be physically, psychologically and socially ready to face the rigorous challenges of nation-building.

” Don’t allow frivolities to affect your needed commitment in camp. Remain focused and dedicated to preparing yourself for the future.

” Adopt a serious approach to activities of the orientation course. Don’t get carried away and lose focus on social lifestyle.

” This is a big opportunity that will afford you to learn new skills and enrich your knowledge for national development.

” Make patriotism, discipline, good conduct, honesty and hard work your watchword as you open a new chapter in life,” he advised.

AbdulRasaq,  however, assured the corps members of better welfare and avowed to do more on camp facilities.

In his address, Kwara NYSC Coordinator, Mr Joshua Onifade congratulated the newly sworn-in corps members and tasked them to remain focused and endure the drilling and other camp activities.

Onifade declared that 2,200 corps members were sworn in, which comprised 1150 females and 1050 males.

He also enjoined them to enrol on skill acquisition and entrepreneurship programmes, which will prepare them for employment shortly.

The state coordinator also thanked Gov. AbdulRazaq for his support and the ongoing parameter fence project in the camp.

He said the governor has been supportive of the course of NYSC in the state and prayed for grace to do more.

NAN reports that the swearing-in of the corps members was done by Kwara Chief Judge,  Justice Abiodun Adebara who was represented by Hon. Justice Sulaiman Akanbi.
