President Tinubu Inaugurates N873m Projects in Bauchi Varsity, Polytechnic

President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated seven newly constructed buildings at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) and Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic in Bauchi state valued at N873 million.
Speaking during the inauguration of the projects in ATBU on Saturday, the President said four of the projects were sited in the university while three were constructed at the state polytechnic by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND).
The President, who was represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar said that education played a critical role in the socio-economic development of nations.
Tinubu explained that the commissioning of the project in the two higher institutions of learning would further enhance teaching, and learning and improve the academic standards.
According to him, the newly constructed four building blocks at the university were for the Faculty of Sciences and Management Sciences valued at N472 million.
Tinubu highlighted the projects to include Departmental Building ‘B’ 2017/2020 merged annual intervention, Departmental Building ‘C’ Under the 2017/2020 merged annual intervention;
Others he said included classrooms and laboratories 2017/2020 merged annual intervention and Academic Building for School of Management Technology 2021/2022 merged annual intervention.
The President, who stated that the projects at the polytechnic were estimated at N401 million, highlighted the projects to include; a 500-Seater Capacity Examination Hall, a 300-Seater Examination Hall and Students’ Hostel Block.
He lauded the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc Sonny Echono and his team for their efforts in effectively discharging the mandate of the fund for the continuous development of public tertiary education in Nigeria.
Earlier, the Tetfund’s Executive Secretary who was represented by the fund’s Director of Research and Development, Salihu Bakari, assured that the agency would continue to support its beneficiaries.
“The fund will support its beneficiaries within the provisions defined by the Board of Trustees as enshrined in its enabling laws, ” he said.
Echono called on the two higher institutions of learning to take proper care of the projects and make effective use of them to achieve their purposes.
