Rotary Club Donates 1,000 Books to Schools in Bauchi

 

The Rotary Club International, Bauchi state chapter has donated 1,000 textbooks to Zion Pilgrim Christ School and Samat International Academy, Yelwa Kagadama in Bauchi state.

Speaking during the distribution exercise on Friday, Mr., Pam Dauda, the President of, the Bauchi Rotary Club, said that the gesture was a collaboration between the Rotary Club and Rotaract Club Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi.

According to him, the gesture was to help the schools improve and work better on their educational system.

 

Dauda, who explained that September was a literacy month of Rotary Club International, added that the club, as part of an effort to touch lives was trying to ensure that education was made easier as books were difficult to get by some schools.

He revealed that the club had put a focal person in place who would see and monitor how effectively the books were being used and accessed to plan on how to supply more books to them.

“The schools are two different schools where one has a primary school to primary six and secondary school to JSS three, the other also has primary school from primary one to five. only.

 

“So, we distributed the books based on the number of students they have in their schools and also the number of classes they have.

“We selected this Zion school because it’s a mixture of pupils from Internally Displaced Persons’ as well as orphans and the school belongs to an orphanage.

 

“We believe this is a place you can impact more as they are the people that need this gesture more,” he said.

Earlier, Ibrahim Saleh, President, of Rotaract Club, ATBU Bauchi, encouraged the pupils that they could only become leaders of tomorrow when they read and face their studies squarely.

In their separate vote of thanks, Mr Joel Jijingi and Ms Ogbonna Fransisca, the principals of the schools, lauded the club for the kind gesture, adding that books were essential tools for effective learning and teaching processes.

Some of the books donated to the schools included English, Mathematics and Basic Sciences.
