Former Lawmaker KWHA, Chief Wole Oke Calls For Upgrade of Ilorin-Shao Road to Link North-South Expressway

 

Former Leader, of Kwara State House of Assembly in the Second Republic, Chief Wole Oke has again applauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the steps taken so far at the take-off of his second term in office particularly, the appointment of credible and identifiable high moral standing, people as members of the State Executive Council.

Chief Wole Oke in his reaction said Governor AbdulRasaq picked high-quality personalities, with enviable professional experience, people who could be relied upon not to get involved in the misapplication and diversion of the state’s funds entrusted to them for the execution of laudable infrastructural projects in their ministries designed to benefit the good citizens of Kwara State, including their people in their respective home constituencies and Local Government Areas.

The APC Stalwart in a Press Statement captioned “Upgrade Ilorin-Shao road to dual carriageway to link up with North-South Expressway at Shao” noted that the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has made a significant presence, virtually in each of the sixteen Local Government Areas of the state, in terms of physical development, particularly in areas of education, health and infrastructure calling on him not to rest and remember that “no monument lasts but a good name”.

“A good name is built around the legacy a ruler leaves behind after his reign”.

He urged the Governor not to leave out certain sectors of development,
which are of great relevance, of immeasurable significance and of ineffable importance, which should call for his attention and action.

“These sectors consist of developmental socio-economic projects that are qualified to rank as legacy projects and which the governor will need to embark upon and execute in this second term.

They are indeed legacy projects, which His Excellency, the governor cannot, or should not, disregard or ignore” he stressed.

Chief Wole-Oke who is also the Jagunmolu of Shao and Bashorun of Jebba explained that one of such identifiable socio-economic projects in the state today is the road that links the state capital to the Dual Carriageway, the Express Road, the Abuja- Bida-Minna- Mokwa- Jebba-Ilorin- Ogbomosho Road, now under construction.

The Former House Leader called for the upgrading of the twelve-kilometre stretch of Ilorin- Shao road into a Double Carriageway to link up with the north-south Abuja-Ogbomosho Expressway now under construction.

The State he added should take the execution of this project as its responsibility even though it is classified as a federal road as its socio-economic value can never be in doubt.

Since the Ilorin-Shao Road does not end in Shao as it goes as far as Malete, the host of the Kwara State University, (KWASU), Chief Wole-Oke therefore called for the construction of a Flyover to ease crossing over at the major Junction to Malete road.

He noted that this has become necessary as a preventative measure against future unnecessary road accidents at this major road Junction at Shao.

According to Chief Wole-Oke, I am not endowed with the characteristic tendency of sycophancy or praise-singing.

“On the other hand, I have never indulged in flippant criticisms of any government, no matter under which political party, whether I am a member or in the opposition.

“Deriving from the above, I am inclined more to appreciate the good work of any individual at leadership height. It is in this light, therefore, that I wish to associate with some citizens of Kwara state who have made commendatory remarks on the performance of the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq whose administration is now into his second term, and final lap.

“This is the period when he has to, not merely think of, but to take action in tandem with the philosophical saying of the sage that, “no monument lasts but a good name. A good name is built around the legacy a ruler leaves behind after his reign”.

He finally advised the governor to take the suggestion/proposal worthy of his consideration to improve the socio-economic activities and life of the people.
